Independence Day is a national holiday in India and is celebrated annually on August 15. Independence Day marks the start of a new era in 1947 and the establishment of a free and independent Indian nation. Independence Day is celebrated throughout India with flag-raising ceremonies, drills, cultural programs, and the singing of the Indian national anthem.
